The social gathering space for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ fans is made possible through generous gifts from Glen Raven Inc. and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Trustee Allen E. Gant Jr. and his wife, Denise. The club's official opening is for the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ men's basketball game against the University of North Carolina on Friday, Nov. 9.

The building dedication during Homecoming offered the opportunity to express gratitude for supporters of the project including ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ parents Jim and Beth Sankey of Charlotte, N.C. The building is named for Jim Sankey's father, a business leader in Canton, Ohio, who passed away in 2013. 

The official groundbreaking offered an opportunity to recognize the contributions of donors to the 80-room inn adjacent to the Koury Business Center that will open next fall. 

During a donor appreciation event on the arena's main floor on Friday, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ celebrated the generosity and vision of the nearly 30 families, individuals and businesses whose gifts made the convocation center possible. 

The generous gift from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Trustee Louis DeJoy and his wife, Dr. Aldona Wos, of Greensboro, North Carolina, will assist students with exceptional ability and high financial need from Title I schools in Guilford County.

The gifts from Don Chaplin and Andy Hunt, of Burlington, North Carolina, were inspired by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s commitment to building an inclusive and welcoming campus community.

Holzapfel from Chapel Hill, North Carolina shares how his ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Engagement Scholarship and experience in the School of Communications have fueled his passion for a career in sports broadcasting.

The university has started raising money to fund upcoming service trips to eastern North Carolina to help communities impacted by the hurricane. Details about how to donate are included in this note. 

The renovations were made possible by the generosity of donors and create ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's first synthetic multisport field.
