Student Global AIDS Campaign interest meeting – April 5

Student Global AIDS Campaign, an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Volunteers! club and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ's only HIV/AIDS awareness program, will meet this Tuesday, April 5, to discuss events and garner future interest. Events for the semester include a 2-mile run and a dinner.

Campus Kitchen at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ, a community program to serve meals to those in need in Alamance County, opened for the first time on Tuesday when top university leaders prepared lasagna dishes during a special College Coffee in the 1889 Grill Room.

University receives grant for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy program

An organization that represents private colleges in North Carolina has awarded ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ a grant of nearly $15,000 to fund a summer program for students about to graduate from local high schools and who make up the inaugural class of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy college access program.

MBA Student Alumni Association gives to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy Dream Fund

The MBA Student Alumni Association hosted a golf tournament that raised $1,000 in support of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy Dream Fund, a special budget created by the association three years ago to assist ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy with college visits, involve students in school and community projects, and help students and families when unexpected life situations arise.

Darris Means receives Phi Kappa Phi award

Darris Means '05, assistant director of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy, recently earned the Love of Learning Award from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. The award helps fund graduate studies or career development opportunities for active members of Phi Kappa Phi.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy takes boats for spin on Lake Mary Nell

It takes more than cardboard and trash bags to make a boat that can cross Lake Mary Nell. Mathematics, physics and engineering play a role in the process, too, as scholars in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy discovered Thursday afternoon when they set sail across the pond as part of the “Challenges in Engineering” course offered this summer in the academic enrichment program for Alamance County teenagers.
