Alexa Darby, an assistant professor of psychology, will assume the role of academic coordinator for the Civic Engagement Scholars Program effective Jan. 1, 2011.

Darby joined the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ faculty in 2005. She earned her doctorate in Educational Psychology at the University of Georgia and her master’s from the University of Connecticut.
Darby is an active teacher-scholar and academic service-learning has provided the common thread linking her teaching, scholarship, and community involvement. She was a Service-Learning Faculty Scholar in 2006-2007 and is currently serving as the Service-Learning Research Scholar for 2009-2010.
In her new role, Darby will provide leadership in the Civic Engagement Scholars program, working closely with students and their community partners and faculty mentors on a variety of civic engagement topics. For more information on the Civic Engagement Scholars Program, visit
