ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ is a partner institution in the new program approved by the state’s General Assembly. The program recruits, prepares, and supports students attending North Carolina’s top education programs to become highly effective teachers in the state’s public schools.

The program is designed to attract high-quality teachers to North Carolina schools. Students participating in the program will receive up to $10,000 per year in forgivable loans if they commit to teach in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics), special education, or elementary education (K-6) licensure area in a North Carolina public school, traditional or charter. Awards are renewable annually for Fellows who continue to meet eligibility requirements.

At ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ, we have multiple special education majors that are eligible for the program, including our Elementary Education major, our dual licensure Special Education & Elementary Education major, and dual licensure Special Education & Middle Grades Education.

How to Apply

The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission provides more details for students on how to apply to the program. The application is available . Consult the NC Teaching Fellows website for application deadlines, which generally occur in November and February.

High school senior applicants to the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program who are interested in attending ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ must also complete the regular ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ admission application process . They should also apply separately to the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Teaching Fellows program, which includes additional scholarship monies and activities here.  Eligible students can potentially be selected to receive funding from both the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Teaching Fellows program ($8000 per year scholarship) and the NC Teaching Fellows program ($10,000 per year forgivable loan). The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Teaching Fellows program application and the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program application are separate processes.
