New alumni can now download a customized news release announcing their graduation from ������Ƶ as part of the Class of 2010.

Imploring students to serve the communities where they will live, the Rev. Richard McBride used his Commencement address on May 23, 2009, to encourage the largest graduating class in ������Ƶ history to find “the place where what you most need to do to fulfill your life intersects with what you believe the world most needs to have done.”

The Rev. Sam Wells, dean of Duke University Chapel, will deliver ������Ƶ’s 2010 Baccalaureate sermon on Friday, May 21, at 3 p.m. in the Koury Athletic Center.

������Ƶ trustee Wes Elingburg and his wife, Cathy, have been recognized by the Southern Conference with the league’s 2010 Distinguished Service Award for their contributions to the institution. The Elingburgs received one of 12 awards – one for each member of the conference – and will be honored June 1 at the Southern Conference Honors Dinner in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

It just didn’t seem right that Ashlee Crewe had to forfeit her college graduation to join teammates in Georgia this weekend for the NCAA softball tournament. So in front of family and friends, Crewe received her diploma Wednesday evening from ������Ƶ President Leo M. Lambert in a ceremony honoring the only senior on the Southern Conference championship team.

Within hours of receiving his diploma on Saturday, Kyle Johnson will drive to Georgia to train for a service program that will take him to 11 different countries in as many months. His inspiration? A “bucket list” his father compiled – and mostly completed – before dying on New Year’s Day.

The School of Communications has published the inaugural issue of the ������Ƶ Journal of Undergraduate Research in Communications, the first journal of its kind in the nation.

Alumnus and acclaimed filmmaker Laith al-Majali will deliver ������Ƶ's 120th Commencement address scheduled for Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Under the Oaks in front of West Residence Hall.

Molly McKnight Costigan, an ������Ƶ Spanish major, has been named the recipient of a 2010 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship, which will fund one year in Spain teaching in an elementary school while conducting an independent project.

Four faculty members were honored May 12, 2010, for superior scholarship, teaching, mentoring and service at ������Ƶ’s faculty-staff awards luncheon. Those recognized included Eric Hall, April Post, Todd Lee and Jeffrey C. Pugh.
