ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ trustees approve School of Health Sciences

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ's board of trustees voted April 15 to establish a new School of Health Sciences, serving graduate students in the existing doctor of physical therapy (DPT) program along with students in the new physician assistant (PA) studies master's program, which will enroll its first class in January 2013.

Play by Jean Rattigan-Rohr to be featured in National Black Theatre Festival

"Valued Voices," a play written by Jean Rattigan-Rohr, associate professor in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ's School of Education, will be featured in The Reader’s Theatre of New Works section of the 2011 National Black Theater Festival. The performance will be at 10 a.m., Aug. 2nd, in the Gaines Ballroom I – Embassy Suites Hotel, Winston Salem, N.C.

Ferryboat affiliated with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ sets sail this summer

A new ferryboat affiliated with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ sets sail on the coastal North Carolina waters this summer. All of North Carolina’s ferryboats are affiliated with colleges or universities in North Carolina and display the school colors and logos.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ to launch LIFE@ELON, a lifelong learning institute

This September, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ will begin a new lifelong education program designed for people aged 50 and older. The learning institute, called LIFE@ELON, will feature weekly presentations conducted in interactive format. The learning community will be led by current and retired ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ faculty and staff members and other area educators.

The youngest scholars spoke on the habits of highly effective teenagers, while those a year older focused on how the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy has changed their lives. The eldest of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy students who presented to classmates, parents and educators on Friday evening? They read from the first drafts of admissions essays that will be used this fall to apply for college educations many once thought were out of reach.
