After an extensive national search, campus leaders have announced that Jodean Schmiederer will join ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ as its new assistant dean of students, with overall responsibility for the Moseley Campus Center, Greek Life, Student Judicial Affairs, Student Activities, Summer Conferences, and Family Weekend.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ wins SoCon baseball title

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Phoenix will enter the upcoming 2008 Southern Conference Baseball Championship as the number one seed after winning the regular season title outright with a 19-8 SoCon mark. The Phoenix finished one game ahead of College of Charleston (18-9) whose loss on the last day of the regular season gave ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ the title outright. It is the second SoCon title for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ in three seasons.

Student-athletes honored at annual banquet

Sophomore All-American football wide receiver Terrell Hudgins and senior All-Southern Conference women’s basketball point guard Tierra Bumbrey came away with Stein H. Basnight Outstanding Athlete Award honors at the 34th Annual ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Athletics Awards Banquet on May 13.

Hall Family Foundation gift endows scholarships for female students

Helping to make an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ education possible for additional deserving students was the motivation behind a $500,000 gift from the Hall Family Foundation. The gift was made in memory of Margaret “Peggy” Hall, a former Parents Council member and the mother of Gretchen Hall Archibald ’02.
