ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s generous community of supporters made fundraising history this year by donating $16.5 million to the university during 2007-2008. That mark surpassed the previous fundraising record at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ of $13.6 million during 2005-2006.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has released the President's List and Dean's List academic recognitions for the 2008 spring semester.

A team from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ flew to Zambia in May to gather interviews for a documentary under development by the Periclean Scholars Class of 2009. The group, which is also developing a Winter Term program that involves Habitat for Humanity, shared its work on a blog and has produced a short video explaining its mission.

Alumni, faculty and students will gather in Los Angeles June 5 to kick off the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ in L.A. internship and study program. The new program offers students an inside view of the entertainment industry and opportunities to network with alumni. Alumni also will gather June 3 to launch an L.A. alumni chapter.

Members of the Class of 2008, along with their parents, grandparents and friends, have contributed more than $18,000 to the Senior Class Gift Campaign for Student Initiative Grants – money that will support students who want to organize future service opportunities.

Commencement exercises begin May 23 and continue through Saturday as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ prepares to graduate its 118th class. Activities for seniors begin even earlier in the week with a class picnic, an evening gala, receptions and dinners.

Students in an educational psychology course collected $2,300 this month to help a local kindergarten class take a zoo field trip.

Expanding the collection of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s magnificent trees inspired President Leo M. Lambert and his wife, Laurie, to make a generous gift to the Campus Conservancy Endowment, which funds future maintenance of facilities and ensures that ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ remains one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation.
