Notable this fall was coverage of the ������Ƶ Poll, the ������Ƶ Forest, and a new book on breast cancer recurrence by associate professor Barbara Gordon. A recent column in The Burlington Times-News underscored the civic engagement that students in an ������Ƶ journalism course perform each year.

Barbara Gordon, an associate professor of English, made appearances on local morning television programs this fall to speak about the publication of her co-authored book, Breast Cancer Recurrence and Advanced Disease: Comprehensive Expert Guidance, published by Duke University Press.

������Ƶ sophomore Chris Thomas was named the 2010 Southern Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year and six Phoenix players earned all-conference honors.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has ranked ������Ƶ among the nation’s top 50 best values in private higher education and the #9 university in lowest total costs, a distinction published in the magazine’s December edition. The 2010-11 ranking is the fifth consecutive top-50 placement of ������Ƶ by Kiplinger’s.

David Gergen, prominent political commentator, former presidential adviser and chair of ������Ƶ Law's advisory board, features a posting on his "David Gergen's Voice" blog about the revitalization of downtown Greensboro, N.C. The piece, by Gergen's son Christopher, describes the role that ������Ƶ Law and other foundation-supported initiatives have played in the city's economic transformation.

Discovery.com, the online publication of the Discovery Channel, featured the work of Janna Anderson, associate professor of communications and director of the School of Communication's Imagining the Internet Center, in an Oct. 18 article.

������Ƶ is the "featured member" for the week of Oct. 4, 2010, on the website and Bulletin e-newsletter distributed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
