A paper written by Kevin J. O'Mara, professor of management, Gary R. Palin, director of the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, and Kathy Cort, associate professor at North Carolina A&T, received the "The Best Paper Award" at the recent ABWIC conference in Nashville, Tenn.

Kevin J. O'Mara, professor of management, was awarded "Best Paper Presentation" for his paper, "Strategic Innovations: The Foundation of an Organizational Strategy," at the ABWIC Conference in Nashville in June.

Sarah Thomas has been named Director of Undergraduate Programs in the Love School of Business. Sarah graduated from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in education and received her MBA from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ in 2009. She previously worked in the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ office, and most recently served as Director of Community Relations and Special Events in the Athletics department.

Tina Das, professor of Economics and Cassandra DiRienzo, professor of Economics and associate dean of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, presented their paper titled “Tourism Competitiveness and the Role of Diversity: A Cross-Country Analysis” at the 3rd WSEAS International Conference on Cultural Heritage and Tourism (CUHT 2010) in Greece, July 22 – 24, 2010.

Eight MBA students, one MBA alumnus and one ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law student traveled to Ireland June 18th to study business and corporate culture in the country. Love School of Business management professor Scott Buechler and Economics professor Tina Das are accompanying the group.

Richard Jordan has been named Associate Director of Career Services in the Love School of Business. He joins ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ from Lee Hecht Harrison, where he was consultant with the global career management firm’s Raleigh office.

Tina Das, professor of Economics and Casey DiRienzo, associate professor of Economics and associate dean of the Love School of Business, have had their paper, "Assessing terrorist risk and FDI using relative information measures," published in Applied Economics Letters. The paper was co-authored with Anthony Mancuso of SAS Institute in Cary, NC.

David Turner, CFO of Thomson Reuters Markets Division, will be the speaker for the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ MBA commencement, to be held Friday, May 21, at 7 pm in Whitley Auditorium.

The third annual ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ MBA Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, June 26, at Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane. The tournament is sponsored by the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ MBA Student-Alumni Association. All proceeds will go to the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy, a college-access program for academically talented high-school students in Alamance County with financial need.
