An effort to showcase both the university's Community Garden and heirloom plants grown by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students proved popular, as did delicious strawberry treats.

The final Friday of classes this spring features an opportunity for members of the campus community to enjoy strawberry shortcake, ice cream and other light refreshments at the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Community Garden.

On April 15, 234 girls were kidnapped from their school in Chibok, Nigeria, by the terrorist group Boko Haram. The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ African Society is having a day of awareness on Tuesday, May 13, to allow students to learn more about this atrocity and voice their support for the #bringbackourgirls movement. 

Cherrel Miller Dyce, assistant professor of education, was the keynote speaker for the Cinderella Project held at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ on Saturday, April 19, 2014.

The deputy director of member services for U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi was the featured speaker at the annual program honoring top black students at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.

Associate Professor of English Prudence Layne, coordinator of the university's African & African-American Studies program, was interviewed on the live radio show “Both Sides of the Story,” a program that is broadcasted live on Power 106 FM radio in Jamaica.

This annual event is a year-end celebration for all LGBTQI and ally students, faculty and staff. Graduating seniors will be honored during the dinner, and achievements in LGBTQIA inclusion at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ will be recognized.

Dooley joins the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community after spending 15 years in student affairs and assessment at Marquette University in Wisconsin.

The associate professor of English and coordinator of the university's African & African-American Studies program proposed, organized, chaired and presented research in Black female resistance with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior strategic communications major Raven Bennett.
