RecycleMania returns to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ this month for the university’s third year taking part in a national recycling competition involving hundreds of college and universities. Leaders hope to surpass the nearly 54 tons of recyclable materials collected last spring on campus during the contest.

Elaine Durr, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's sustainability coordinator, hosted leaders in North Carolina sustainable living and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students for a Friday morning tour of the university's eco-friendly campus features.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has launched a new sustainability web site to provide an overview of its sustainability initiative. The site serves as a resource for the campus community to learn about sustainable practices and programs at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, to raise environmental awareness and participation, and to foster new ideas.

Elaine R. Durr, a sustainability consultant from Decatur, Ga., has been named sustainability coordinator at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, a new position created as part of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s sustainability master plan.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is among more than 70 colleges and universities recognized on a special "Green Colleges" Web site created by the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). The site details initiatives on campuses that promote environmental sustainability.
