ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ collected more than 6,300 pounds of material during the third official week of RecycleMania 2009, bringing the total to 27,506 pounds for the contest.

Results are in for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ during the second week of RecyleMania 2009, a 10-week competition taking part on campuses across the nation to reduce waste and raise awareness about recycling. The university is now ahead of the volume it recycled (by more than 1,100 pounds) since the same stage of the contest last spring.

The POWERless Energy Competition returned to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ this semester for a seven-week contest to see which residence halls can best reduce their electricity usage. The competition began Feb. 17 with a kick-off event at College Coffee.

Results are in for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ during the first official week of RecyleMania 2009, a 10-week competition taking part on campuses across the nation to reduce waste and raise awareness about recycling. Overall cumulative pounds recycled (per capita) on campus is ahead of the data reported by the university last year at this stage of the contest.

RecycleMania returns to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ this month for the university’s third year taking part in a national recycling competition involving hundreds of college and universities. Leaders hope to surpass the nearly 54 tons of recyclable materials collected last spring on campus during the contest.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has launched a new sustainability web site to provide an overview of its sustainability initiative. The site serves as a resource for the campus community to learn about sustainable practices and programs at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, to raise environmental awareness and participation, and to foster new ideas.
