Tiffany Morris, inaugural chair of the Department of Nursing, and Lauren Myers '22 spoke on the 100% first-time pass rate by the inaugural ABSN cohort.
The Class of 2022 Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) arrived in the fall of 2021 and after the 16-month program, all 14 graduates passed the NCLEX-RN, the national licensing exam for nurses. WFMY News 2 featured this accomplishment in a recent report.
Tiffany Morris, inaugural chair of the Department of Nursing, told reporter Sydni Moore that to have a 100% first-time pass rate for the licensing exam is an “extremely difficult” accomplishment, especially for a newly established program.
“We were the first group of faculty for syllabi, first course documents, first time that we actually implemented this program at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ,” Morris said. “So, when students came to us, they were investing in us and trusting us to pass this exam.”
Lauren Myers, a member of the ABSN Class of 2022 and currently a registered nurse with Cone Health, said her time at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has prepared her well for a career in health care. “Our professors did a great job preparing us really from day one of our nursing programs.”
