Rising senior Amber Schmiesing, whose work with film was inspired by her experience in the "ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ in L.A." program, won the Dance Camera West film festival's Emerging Artist Second Runner Up Award for an original dance film.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ senior Amber Schmiesing, a dance performance & choreography major, was honored in June at the film festival in California with the Emerging Artist Second Runner Up Award for .
Amber traveled to Los Angeles for the festival and to receive her award. Also in attendance at the film festival was the 2014 summer cohort of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ dance majors participating in the and studying “Dance for the Camera” with Professor Jen Guy Metcalf.
Schmiesing, a native of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, was a member of the inaugural 2013 “Dance for the Camera” course and has worked closely with Metcalf on developing her editing and directing skills.
