ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ sent 1,170 students abroad in the 2010-2011 academic year, a seven percent increase on the previous year and best among master's-level institutions.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ has maintained its position as the nation’s top master’s-level university in the Open Doors 2012 report by the Institute of International Education, the leading indicator of top college international study programs. The latest IIE survey covered the 2010-11 academic year.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ was once again the #1 ranked master’s-level university in the total number of students studying abroad, with 1,170 during the year. This number represents a seven percent increase over the 2009-2010 academic year. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ ranked ahead of James Madison University, Appalachian State University, Villanova University and Arcadia University.
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ moved up a spot to #2 among master’s-level universities in the number of students who participated in mid-length (typically one semester) study abroad programs, with 456 students. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ also ranked #4 among master’s level institutions in number of students on short-term programs, with 714 students participating.
In the 2010-2011 academic year, 23 percent of the student body studied abroad. Seventy-two percent of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ seniors who graduated in May 2012 had studied abroad at least once during their collegiate studies. In August of this year The Princeton Review also named ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ the #1 university in the U.S. for study abroad. These accolades are a reflection of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s continued commitment to diversity and global engagement.
