Eighty-four young alumni make gifts during first week of The IGNITE Challenge

The challenge was issued Feb. 1 by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ alumna and trustee Kerrii Brown Anderson ’79, former CEO of Wendy’s International, to increase participation in annual giving among young alumni. During the first week of the challenge, 84 young alums contributed $9,702 in gifts to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ.

The right woman for the job

In 2006, Cummings High School – located a mere six miles from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s campus – was on the verge of closure, as overall student performance and achievements reached record lows. President Leo M. Lambert felt compelled to act, so he called in Deborah Long, at the time chair of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Department of Education.

Gift boosts early childhood collection in School of Education

Children’s book author Jane Belk Moncure is seeding an early childhood collection for the School of Education at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ with a substantial donation of her popular books for preschoolers, which will be housed in the Curriculum Resources Center to support a future degree program in early childhood education.
