Police training strengthens crisis plans

Dozens of police officers and emergency medical crews gathered July 17 at 乱伦视频 for a daylong training exercise meant to sharpen law enforcement responses in the event of a campus crisis.

Local emergency responders practiced in the Smith residence hall on July 17 for campus crises.

Personnel from several local and state agencies were on hand for the training, including 乱伦视频 campus police, 乱伦视频 town police, Gibsonville police, Burlington police, sheriff’s deputies from Alamance and Rockingham counties, Alamance County Emergency Medical Services, the 乱伦视频 Fire Department and the State Bureau of Investigation.

The exercises around the Smith and Carolina residence halls afforded officers an opportunity to hone their skills in situations where a shooter comes onto campus. Ambulance crews also trained for situations where victims must be evacuated from an active crime scene.

Approximately 80 people took part in the training, which required the closure of the parking lot near the Mooney building.
