Bias Education (BE) at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ

As part of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s bias response system, the Office of Inclusive Excellence, Education and Development (OIEED) offers educational opportunities that aim to proactively reduce identity-based bias and bias-related incidents. The OIEED offers a series of Bias Education (BE) workshops under the following themes: BE Aware, BE Accountable and BE Advocates.

BE workshops are regularly offered to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ community members, and departments and groups can request BE workshops by using the Division of Inclusive Excellence request for services form.

BE Aware

Learning goals in these workshops include (but are not limited to):​

  • Identify personal bias attitudes and actions within themselves
  • Recognize multiple forms of implicit and explicit identity-based bias​

  • Increase their awareness to identifying identity-based bias​
  • Understand how to address bias-related incidents

BE Advocates

Learning goals in these workshops include (but are not limited to):​

  • Understand the foundations of anti-bias advocacy​
  • Explore resources and strategies to promote anti-bias and inclusion in respective departments and offices​
