The Big Village

One-on-one instruction for struggling kindergarten through 5th grade readers and parental support in a non-threatening setting.

Expert tutoring is provided by dedicated ABSS teachers and passionate ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students, who work together to support each student’s academic success and growth. Each participating student will receive a nutritious meal at every session.

Additionally, we provide adult education ESL/Spanish language classes for parents of our students. It is provided in collaboration with Alamance Community College and our own small group instruction.

 

  • Free weekly one-on-one and small group tutoring in reading & math for K-5 students
  • Spring 2026 Programs running from the week of February 16th through the week of April 27th.
  • Weekly from 5-7 PM (T, W, Th)
  • Free dinner provided by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Dining.
  • Instruction provided by ABSS Teachers & supported by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student volunteers
  • Parent programs are provided to support learning at home (study skills, computer literacy, community resource fairs, English classes)
  • Program evaluation from de-identified student assessment data, teacher & parent surveys, parent focus groups
