2008 Hometown Heroes show commitment to service

Four people who make a difference in the lives of others were honored Nov. 3, 2008, in the 15th Annual "Hometown Heroes" awards ceremony at Ƶ. Freshmen class officers selected the honorees for "making a positive difference by touching lives and strengthening their home communities."

Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin will speak at Ƶ on Thursday, Oct. 16, during a campaign rally at Latham Park in the North Athletics Complex. Gates will open at noon, with Palin’s arrival scheduled for 3 p.m. Appearing with Palin will be music star Hank Williams Jr.

Tolley named to NAIA Hall of Fame

Jerry Tolley, former head Ƶ football coach and a current member of the University Advancement staff, has been named a member of the 2008-09 Hall of Fame class of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The honor is the highest bestowed by the NAIA.
