Ben Snyder is the 2012 recipient of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law’s highest honor for a graduating student, the David Gergen Award for Leadership and Professionalism.

The Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law held its annual reception and dinner honoring third-year law students on April 20. Angela Gray of Gray Newell, LLP in Raleigh, North Carolina delivered the event's keynote address.

Law students helped 391 low-income residents of Guilford County to obtain more than $360,000 in tax refunds.

At ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law's sixth and final reception with the legal community for the academic year, the law school recognized students for pro bono and community service. Henry Isaacson, senior partner of Isaacson Isaacson Sheridan & Fountain, LLP, spoke on the importance of pro bono work.

The student body at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law recently elected a new slate of Student Bar Association (SBA) leaders for the 2012-13 academic year. Gwendolyn Lewis will serve as President.

Mitch Baroody, a member of the Class of 2014 at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law, participated in a March 19 Washington, DC event to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Lebanese Cedar Revolution. The event featured U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman and Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly.

The fourth annual race raised more than $2,000 to support Alzheimer's disease research with upward of 170 people entering the event.

On January 24, members of the Moot Court Board at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law built on a series of achievements in recent months, with Beth Klein and Chris McLain finishing in the top eight teams at the 35th annual J. Braxton Craven, Jr. Memorial Competition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The competition drew 24 teams from law schools across the country.

More than thirty law students participated in the North Carolina Bar Association's Wills for Heroes program on Dec. 17.

On January 6, Austin Morris L'12 testified before the North Carolina General Statutes Commission on law governing the naming of debtors on financing statements.
