Mel Palmer, 83, who served 32 years on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s board of trustees, died Oct. 28.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Leo M. Lambert was one of two people honored this month by the State University of New York at Geneseo Alumni Association for his commitment to the association, college and higher education.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Leo M. Lambert held a session March 30 with about 60 local community leaders to share details of the university's campus development that is guided by the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Commitment strategic plan.

David C. Porter of Sudbury, Mass., will be installed as the newest member of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees at the board's spring meeting, April 15-16. Porter and his wife, Jen, are the parents of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior Tim Porter, and have served on the university's Parents Council and are members of the Founder's Circle of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Society.

Roger Gant Jr., who served on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's board of trustees for 20 years, died July 26 at the age of 86. Gant was former president of Glen Raven Inc. and a second-generation descendant of the textile company's founder.

J. Earl Danieley, who served as president of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ from 1957-1973 and remains a fixture of the community, will be recognized as part of the annual Founders Day celebrations. The events include a special College Coffee on March 9, a Whitley Auditorium College Chapel service on March 11 and, later that evening, a fireside chat in Whitley Auditorium where Danieley will answer questions collected in advance from students by the Student Government Association.
