Carolina Classic Mock Trial Tournament draws top teams to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ

Every room in the Koury Business Center was filled over Fall Break weekend for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s 3rd annual Carolina Classic Mock Trial Tournament featuring 24 undergraduate teams from 16 universities, including Duke University, the University of North Carolina, Furman University and two-time national champion University of Virginia.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ students compete in Model UN event at Georgetown University

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Model United Nations organization participated in a conference at Georgetown University Oct. 8-11, one featuring a wide variety of committees ranging from Peace and Security of the African Union, and The Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia to the Suez Canal Crisis of 1956 and the First Punic War.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ students present paper co-authored with political science faculty

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ students McKenzie Young and Jenna Levy presented a paper they co-authored with associate professor of political science Hunter Bacot at the annual conference of the Southern Association for Public Opinion Research, the regional conference of the American Association for Public Opinion Research.

Laura Roselle honored by Church Women United

Laura Roselle, a professor of political science and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s 2009 Distinguished Scholar, was honored by the Burlington/Alamance unit of Church Women United for her efforts to expose the flawed information local sheriff’s officials had been using to defend their immigration enforcement practices.

Half the citizens of Mecklenburg County believe their community has gotten off on the wrong track, and though more than two thirds of Charlotte residents in the latest ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Poll believe the upcoming mayoral and council elections are significant, no clear frontrunner has emerged in the race to replace outgoing Mayor Pat McCrory.
