Associate professor Hunter Bacot joined with leading political scientists in North Carolina on Oct. 19 for a panel discussion on the 2010 elections, an event in Raleigh, N.C., sponsored by the North Carolina FreeEnterprise Foundation.

In a news conference followed by a Q&A with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students, former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf discussed on Wednesday his vision for the future of his nation, the need for the United States to maintain a military presence in Afghanistan, and how economic development in the Muslim world is critical for reducing terrorism and extremism around the globe.

Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf talked about the qualities of leadership, the conflict in the Middle East and many other topics during an intense one-hour class session with International Relations students on Oct. 13.

It was an oft-repeated word on Thursday: “complex.” For three professors and two students taking part in a community conversation focused on the upcoming visit to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ of former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, there was no other way to describe the man’s history, or what it means for the university that he’ll be on campus as the keynote speaker at Fall Convocation.
