Associate Professor of Astrophysics Chris Richardson and student researchers publish article about finding elusive black holes with the newly launch James Webb Space Telescope.

The generous gifts from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ parents John and Kristin Replogle P’18 and Wolfspeed, Inc., to the Innovation Quad will help provide premier facilities for physics, engineering and other STEM fields at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ. Their gifts are part of the $250 million ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ LEADS Campaign.

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) has chosen three ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ faculty projects, naming five new CATL Scholars for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Featured on the cover of Advanced Materials, the work is the first demonstration of a soft magnetic robot that can sense its own position within its environment.

Chance’s research involves developing materials and conditions that would lead to thermionic energy conversion. He is a dual-degree engineering physics major and will transfer to a partner school next fall to complete his degrees.
