Calling on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s newest alumni to serve a nation “that provides us the opportunities we far too often take for granted,” U.S. Navy Vice Adm. William E. Gortney ’77 spoke of courage, integrity and balance on Saturday morning in Commencement exercises attended by thousands of relatives and friends who gathered Under the Oaks to celebrate the Class of 2011’s academic journey.

Events leading up to Commencement 2011 take place this week as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ prepares to graduate its 121st undergraduate class, its MBA and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Law class, and its second class in the iMedia graduate program. Activities for seniors start May 18, with a class picnic, an evening gala, receptions and dinners on the agenda.

Six ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ athletics teams earn top academic honors

Six ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ athletics teams rank among the nation’s top 10 percent in their sports in the annual NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) report. The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Phoenix men’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s indoor and outdoor track and volleyball teams are among the NCAA Division I teams receiving public recognition awards for their APR scores, the NCAA announced May 17.

Seniors laud Career Services for help with future plans
