From blogs hosted by The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal to appearances on statewide news channel News 14 Carolina and NPR affiliate WUNC 91.5 FM, ������Ƶ faculty, students and alumni continued making news this summer for their research and service both on campus and around the nation.

������Ƶ earns a long list of top honors in the 2012 “America’s Best Colleges” rankings by U.S.News & World Report.

For the ninth year in a row, ������Ƶ is ranked among the nation's 376 top colleges and universities by The Princeton Review. The 2012 college guide, released Aug. 1, also ranks ������Ƶ’s study abroad program as #4 in the nation, and ������Ƶ’s theater program as #15.

For the third consecutive year, the Sierra Club has ranked ������Ƶ one of the nation’s top 100 “greenest universities.” The ranking, published in Sierra’s September/October 2011 magazine recognizes schools in 10 categories that include academics, waste management, energy efficiency, food, purchasing, transportation, financial and other factors.

Town & Country, the oldest continually published general interest magazine in the United States, picked ������Ƶ in an 11-page feature story on top colleges in the September 2011 issue. The top colleges were recommended to the magazine by counselors at dozens of private high schools across the country.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has recognized ������Ƶ in its 2011 “Great Colleges to Work For” program, which honors institutions for best practices and policies, such as teaching environment, respect and appreciation, and confidence in senior leadership.

The 2012 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges names ������Ƶ one of the nation's top 25 "Best Buy" private universities. The best buy schools are recognized for the quality of their academic offerings in relation to the cost of attendance.

������Ƶ professors, students and alumni continue to make news this summer through their research and campus activities. Notable in recent weeks was regional media coverage of ������Ƶ School of Law's full accreditation from the American Bar Association, regional stories and broadcasts on ������Ƶ's new head women's basketball coach, and mention of the ������Ƶ Poll by the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune.

An entrepreneurship camp sponsored by the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and led by David Jackson, an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship and business, was featured June 25, 2011, in a front-page story in the (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News.

Bloomberg Businessweek ranks ������Ƶ's Martha and Spencer Love School of Business among the nation's top undergraduate business programs in its 2011 rankings, which were released March 3. ������Ƶ ranks #26 in academic quality and receives an "A" grade for facilities and services.
