Incoming students and their families gathered Under the Oaks of campus on Aug. 23, 2014, as administrators, faculty and fellow students shared reflections and advice for making the most of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ education.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ welcomed to campus this fall students from around the world whose intellectual curiosity and commitment to their communities made them stand out in a record number of applicants for an incoming class.

More than 1,500 first-year and transfer students arrived on campus Friday set on learning about social and economic issues impacting their world while finding ways to improve the lives of others.

Fifteen first-year students spent a week earlier this summer exploring campus and the surrounding area as they prepared for the transition to their collegiate studies.

Several events are planned throughout the weekend of Aug. 22-25 as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ welcomes students and families in the Class of 2018.

Join us Under the Oaks for the New Student Convocation on Aug. 23 at 9 a.m.

Featuring wisdom from returning undergraduates, information about the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Core Curriculum and resources for moving to campus, "Are You Ready?" helps members of the Class of 2018 consider how to best prepare for success at the university.

The Class of 2014 is sending more scholars overseas next year with Fulbright English Teaching Assistant grants than any previous class in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ history.

Driven by dozens of dedicated volunteers, reunion giving programs helped raise more than $1.4 million for the university this year.
