Wesley Rose is using the Lumen Prize, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s top award for undergraduate research and creative achievement, to explain how a famous 19th century composer used mortality and superstition to shape the evolution of classical piano performances.

Its contributions to a program that helps children learning to read has earned a special award for the university's chapter of the National Association for Music Education.

The four professors will work on projects that explore the way students learn in music, creative writing and English education.

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ WPE is looking for new members for the Spring of 2015.  No experience is required and it is open to any member of the student body.

Victoria Fischer Faw, a professor in the Department of Music at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ, presented a lecture recital at the annual North Carolina Music Teachers Association conference Oct. 25, 2013 at Mars Hill University.

Several ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Music Theatre majors participated with more than 200 other students from across the state at the National Association of Teachers of Singing NC Music Theatre competition.

The associate professor of music was invited to participate in CV reviews by the organization's Professional Development Committee. 

Joint program with violist Kirsten Swanson leads to multiple recitals.

"Christmas" has been nominated for consideration in the 56th Grammy Awards by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. 

Jon Metzger receives a Plus Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.
