David Cooper appointed to governor’s education commission

North Carolina Gov. Bev Perdue has appointed School of Education Dean David Cooper to the Governor’s Education Transformation Commission, a new board of influential leaders who will advise the governor on the use of federal “Race to the Top” funds for implementing the “Career and College: Ready, Set, Go! Initiative” across North Carolina.

Ƶ M.Ed. students receive degrees

Ƶ leaders conferred degrees Saturday morning to students in the Master of Education program during a Commencement ceremony in Whitley Auditorium attended by faculty, staff, family and friends of the graduate students.

45 candidates receive M.Ed. degrees at Commencement

Commencement ceremonies were held on Aug. 22, 2009 for 45 M.Ed. students who completed their studies in the School of Education. Commencement speaker was David H. Cooper, Dean of the School of Education.

Princeton Review and USA Today name Ƶ one of nation’s 100 “Best Value Colleges”

A new ranking by The Princeton Review, in partnership with USA Today, names Ƶ one of the nation’s top values in higher education for 2009. The report, released Jan. 8, is based on 30 factors in three areas: academics, costs and financial aid. Schools chosen “provide high-quality academics at a reasonable price – either by keeping sticker prices in line, or by offsetting high costs with great financial aid packages.”
