An April 29 News & Observer article reports that ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law alumna Janison Dillon L’13 is leading a new organization of the North Carolina Bankers Association, created to broaden financial literacy across North Carolina.

An April 23 News & Record article examines the special role that the North Carolina Business Court plays in the education of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is one of the few law schools in the country to house a working court.

After a ten-year separation caused by civil war in Somalia, a family was reunited on April 16 in Greensboro, N.C., aided by law students in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic. Their story was featured on Fox news stations across the country.

Hosted by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law and the Alliance for Experiential Learning in Law, the June 13-15 symposium will feature William C. Hubbard, President Elect of the American Bar Association, and Bill Henderson, Professor of Law, Maurer School of Law at Indiana University at Bloomington.

At ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s April Reception with the Legal Community, 34 students were recognized for significant pro bono and community service, including third-year law student Caitlin Cutchin who was recognized for contributing the most pro bono hours while at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ with 581 hours logged. 

“War Crimes, Genocide, and Justice” by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s David Crowe is a global history of battlefield horrors and the international humanitarian law that developed in response to barbaric behaviors of armies and their leaders.

Twenty-five teams of law students representing 16 law schools participated in the fourth annual Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ School of Law on March 28 and 29.

Volume 6, Issue 1 of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Review is titled, “Emerging Issues in First Amendment Jurisprudence: Interpreting the Relationship Between Religion and the State in the Modern Age.”

As part of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Reunion Weekend, four alumni were recognized for professional and philanthropic achievement, the Class of 2009 celebrated its five-year reunion and alumni celebrated the contributions of Dean George R. Johnson, Jr. to the early successes of the law school. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law and MBA students met with top business and law leaders in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Cuba and the Cayman Islands through collaborative international business courses.
