Enthusiasm for the achievements of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students and for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s leadership role in the innovation of legal education infused the law school’s eighth annual Friends & Family Day on Sept. 19.

Delivering ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law's fall 2015 Distinguished Leadership Lecture presented by The Joseph M. Bryan Foundation on Sept. 14, former two-term Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm encouraged future leaders to find their passion and commit themselves fully to it.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s Entrepreneurship Speaker Series kicked off on Sept. 10, welcoming entrepreneurs, law students and others to an event entitled “How to Choose the Best Business Structure for Your Company.” Speakers included ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor John Flynn, attorney Greg Chabon and law student Gonzalo Ventura. 

Part seven of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s student summer employment series spotlights the insights and experiences of those working in military law, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, criminal law, family law, immigration law and intellectual property law. 

In an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Now commentary, Professor Michael Rich applauds new policy changes at the U.S. Department of Justice developed to pursue white-collar crimes more aggressively, but questions the depth of impact those changes will have. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor George R. Johnson, Jr. will moderate a special event featuring Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Leonard Pitts, Jr., and conservative activist Star Parker. 

Dean Bierman will meet with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. in Room 207, to present on matters of significance to the student body and to converse with students about topics of interest to them. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students are invited to meet with representatives from a wide range of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law student organizations to learn more and get involved. 

Each fall, the Moot Court Board invites rising 2L and 3L students at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law to compete in the Intramural Moot Court Competition. This year's competition takes place Sept. 21, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. 

Representatives from Legal Aid of North Carolina and the North Carolina Justice Center will present on the Lawyer on the Line pro bono program for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students and a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) presentation on expunction laws in N.C. and the need for reentry advocacy. This event is open to attorneys, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students and members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community.  It will take place in Room 207 at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.
