Assistant Professor Taleed El-Sabawi took part this fall in a New York University School of Law conference focused on legal and regulatory impacts of the nation’s ongoing opioid health crisis.

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Review’s 2019 Symposium on Judicial Independence brought to Greensboro some of the nation’s leading experts on the American court system, with keynote remarks by a Yale Law scholar who favors keeping the U.S. Supreme Court at nine justices while reconfiguring the way they are appointed and help decide cases.

Professor Henry Gabriel's election to the International Academy of Comparative Law highlighted a busy summer that included an appointment by the U.S. Department of State, paper presentations around the nation, and teaching in China.

A grant from the Association of Legal Writing Directors supported the two-day visit by Ruth Anne Robbins, a distinguished clinical professor from Rutgers Law who taught ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law students, faculty, and staff about the power of narrative storytelling and the importance of document design in the legal profession.

Three ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law alumni shared perspectives and practical advice with current students as part of a Hispanic Heritage Month panel conversation hosted in September by the Hispanic and Latinx Law Students Association and the Women's Law Association. 

Kjirsten Durand-Johnson L’20 has been honored in the most recent Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition for a class assignment she parlayed into a formal contest submission.

Ashley Jay Elizabeth Poling L'13 was sworn in last month as a commissioner of the Postal Regulatory Commission, an independent agency that provides regulatory oversight over the United States Postal Service.

Twenty-five students in the Class of 2020 will help guide the school's moot court program over the next year by participating in upcoming national contests and coordinating ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law's own national moot court competition.

Assistant Professor Taleed El-Sabawi traveled to Chicago and Rome over the summer to participate in international conferences focused on health law and mental health.

"A Symposium to Assess Judicial Independence in 2019" will feature contributions from some of the nation's top legal scholars and political observers visiting ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law in downtown Greensboro.
