What started as an academic exercise in a service learning class has transformed into a student-led community organization that has raised thousands of pounds of food for the hungry in Alamance County in just its first two months.

The Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership is helping to lead a series of free workshops that take place on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's campus from March 25-28, 2014, for anyone in the Alamance County or surrounding communities.

Two ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ seniors, in coordination with the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, led a group of local high school students last month to an entrepreneurship and the arts conference in Greensboro, N.C.

Patrick G. Awuah Jr., president of Ashesi University in Ghana, traveled from Africa to the United States to receive an award that recognizes entrepreneurs who are leaders in their industry and who exemplify the values of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.

Rising juniors from across all majors are welcome to apply to be a 2014-15 Doherty Scholar.

The founder and president of Ashesi University will be honored Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. in the LaRose Digital Theatre with the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Medal for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
