Twelve School of Communications students were among the many student researchers who presented their work at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's selective Student Undergraduate Research Forum April 28.

Associate professor Jessica Gisclair and assistant professor Ken Calhoun delivered their research and creative presentations as part of SURF's Celebration of Faculty Scholarship April 28.

Winners of the 13th Annual Philip L. Carret "Thomas Jefferson Essay Competition" were named April 27, 2009, at a recognition dinner in the Center for the Arts.

The Statesville (N.C.) Record & Landmark on April 25 profiled Carson Foushee '07, a leisure and sport management graduate, and his efforts to raise money for the purchase of netting that can help slow the spread of malaria in Africa.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ seniors Jenna Raffio (psychology) and Ryan Pauley (leisure and sport management), along with faculty members Chris Leupold and Tony Weaver, presented a poster titled, “Creation of a Strategic Performance Model for Division I Athletic Directors: Phase I” at the Scholarly Conference on College Sport in Chapel Hill, N.C., held from April 15-19.

For the third consecutive year, the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Bateman Team has received recognition in the nation's highest competition for public relations students.

Kenn Gaither, an assistant professor of communications, and three seniors in his international public relations capstone course were interviewed April 20 for a segment on bilingual professors on WFMY News 2, a CBS affiliate in Greensboro, N.C.

Jessica Gisclair, associate professor in the School of Communications, presented "Perceptions of Beauty and Self in China's X-Generation" to the Asian Popular Culture Division at the PCA/ACA Conference in New Orleans April 10.

"The Future of Things," an online magazine focusing on science, technology and medicine from around the world, has named ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's Imagining the Internet Web site its "Site of the Week."
