Senior cinema major Max Cantor had his documentary "Cinema 93" selected for screening at the 2009 New Hampshire Film Festival Oct. 15-18 in Portsmouth, N.H.

The Pendulum, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's weekly student newspaper, was named a 2009 finalist in the Associated Collegiate Press Newspaper Pacemaker competition Sept. 4. Pacemaker is the highest honor ACP gives to its members.

Junior journalism major Pam Richter was named a national finalist in the Online Opinion and Commentary category of Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence awards competition. She collected her award at SPJ’s national convention Aug. 28 in Indianapolis.

The North Carolina Association of Broadcasters gave School of Communications Associate Dean Connie Book an award for outstanding leadership and dedication to the NCAB.

Ocek Eke, an assistant professor of Communications, authored a chapter in the new textbook and anthology "Understanding the Global Experience: Becoming a Responsible World Citizen," which was edited by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ faculty members Tom Arcaro and Rosemary Haskell.

Sang Nam, an assistant professor in the School of Communications and a teacher in the new Interactive Media master’s program, spoke at the Korean School of Greensboro Aug. 29 about cultural education.
