The associate professor of English and coordinator of the university's African & African-American Studies program proposed, organized, chaired and presented research in Black female resistance with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior strategic communications major Raven Bennett.

Glenda Phillips Hightower visited the university on Thursday and spent part of her day talking with current students about her struggles and triumphs in 1963 as ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's first full-time African-American student.
