Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp) has made a major gift to support endowment for the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy, a college-access and academic enrichment program run by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ that encourages Alamance County high school students with significant financial need to earn college degrees and serve their communities.

The Alamance Foundation recently presented a $2,200 gift to the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy to be used to support college visits for more than 75 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy scholars during the summer of 2011.

Capital Bank Charitable Foundation made a $3,500 gift to the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Academy in December to support the program's financial literacy programs for more than 120 scholars and their families.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has launched the public phase of the largest fundraising campaign in the school’s history. The Board of Trustees voted Oct. 10 to set a goal of raising $100 million by 2011 through Ever ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ: The Campaign for the Future of Our University.

During this year’s Senior Class Giving Campaign, members of the Class of 2011 will be encouraged to make a gift to the university to show their support for their ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ experiences.

About 3,000 people have watched President Leo M. Lambert's message about the important role that alumni play in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s future, including making annual gifts to support the best of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ education. This is the first of several videos the president will share with alumni this year via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter and E-Net.
