The program provides a constant liaison between ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ students and local Non-Profit Organizations.

This is a volunteer position.

The deadline for applications is Jan. 11 at  5p.m.

Volunteers needed for annual Halloween Carnival /u/news/2007/10/17/volunteers-needed-for-annual-halloween-carnival/ Wed, 17 Oct 2007 20:24:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/10/17/volunteers-needed-for-annual-halloween-carnival/ Graham Recreation and Parks is having their annual Halloween Carnival on Oct. 27 and needs your help.  Volunteers would be helping run the games for children (up to age 13).  Volunteers would need to arrive at 5:15pm and the carnival is from 6-9pm.  Around 20 volunteers are needed so this is a perfect opportunity to sign-up with a group.
 
Costumes are optional!

Elementary School is having a fall festival on November 2, 2007 from 5-9pm.  They need as many volunteers as they can get to help work the booths and games at the festival.  This is the perfect opportunity for your organization, sorority, fraternity, club, or team to get those service hours. 
 
All volunteers will be provided with food coupons to get something to eat.

Volunteers needed to help with Women’s Resource Center fundraiser /u/news/2007/10/17/volunteers-needed-to-help-with-womens-resource-center-fundraiser/ Wed, 17 Oct 2007 20:23:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/10/17/volunteers-needed-to-help-with-womens-resource-center-fundraiser/ The Women’s Resource Center is having a fundraiser dinner at the Piedmont Ale House on Thursday, October 25 from 5-9 pm.  Parents are invited to come and enjoy dinner and drinks, but many have children that need looked after; volunteers would help supervise the children (ages 2-10) while the parents dine.  Volunteers are also needed to help direct traffic.
 
This is a great opportunity for groups because approximately 20-30 volunteers are needed.

Have your group volunteer at the Pleasant Grove Fall Festival /u/news/2007/10/17/have-your-group-volunteer-at-the-pleasant-grove-fall-festival/ Wed, 17 Oct 2007 20:23:00 +0000 /u/news/2007/10/17/have-your-group-volunteer-at-the-pleasant-grove-fall-festival/ Alamance County Recreation and Parks is hosting the Pleasant Grove Fall Festival, which is a carnival for children.  The carnival is being held to raise money for Pleasant Grove Elementary PTA.  Between 30-40 volunteers are needed to help with parking, carnival games, a haunted house, an egg hunt, and more. 
 
The carnival is on Oct. 26 from 5-9pm at Pleasant Grove Recreation Center.

Stress Management Workshop: Thursday, Oct. 18 5-6:30pm
Stress is composed of psychological and physiological components. This workshop will use an experiential approach to help students understand holistic, wellness model of stress management.  It will focus on achieving a healthy balance of mind-body-spirit offering its participants tools to increase their overall sense of physical and mental well-being through stress reduction.
 
Decision Making Workshop: Sunday, Oct. 21 2-3:30pm
College students have many decisions to make on a daily basis but sometimes deciding is no small feat.  Each workshop participant will be asked to focus on one pending decision to be made and will be walked through a decision making process using an effective model.
 
Conflict Management Workshop: Monday, Oct. 22 5-6:30pm
Conflict is all around us. In our dorms, in our friendships and family relationships; conflict may be small and go unnoticed or large and painfully impact our daily interactions. Either way, almost everyone could improve their conflict management skills.  This workshop will use a model proven effective in the professional literature to help students understand the sources of conflict and gain some of the necessary skills to manage and reduce the variety of conflict in their lives.
 
Group Dynamics Workshop: Wednesday, Oct. 24 6-7:30pm
Understanding human behavior in groups can improve your relationships with others, from your fellow students to our immediate family.  We will teach you how to increase the attractiveness of your group to others, how to gain authority in a group, and how to understand th different types of roles people fill in a group.  This workshop will include self-assessment and encourage self-awareness and leadership behaviors.
 
Professional Communication Workshop: Section 1:  Monday, Oct. 22 7-8:30pm
                                                                             Section 2: Thursday, Oct. 25 5-6:30pm
This workshop is a must for college students.  After all, how many of you have had training in the professional way to answer a phone?  We will review telephone etiquette, how to write appropriate emails particularly to professors and job supervisors, and how to write basic professional correspondence such as the art of the thank you letter.
 
Time Management Workshop: Tuesday, Oct. 23 7-8:30pm
Too many things on your plate? No time for homework?  Since mom isn’t here to help you manage your time, let us explore some ways students have found to be successful in their time management.  You will walk away with some helpful suggestions that may just let you fit one more thing into your calendar or breathe easier.
 
Bridging the Technology Gap Workshop: Tuesday, Oct. 23 5-6:30pm

Do you start and end your day instant-messaging?  Do you sneak looks at your cell phone to see who called during organic chemistry?  This workshop will discuss the use of technology’s impact in our relationships and in our daily life.  We will discuss the perceptions of both the older generation (professor aged) as well as the younger ages (us) toward the use, abuse, love and hate of technology in our lives.

In-depth training dates are September 25th and 27th and October 2th and 4th from 4pm-7pm.
