The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Freedom Scholars is one of several university college access programs, launched in 2022. This year, the program welcomed its third and largest cohort.

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Freedom Scholars welcomes its third and largest class as they begin a new year focused on college preparation, career exploration and civic learning and engagement.

Tess Taylor, acclaimed author of "Work & Days," will deliver the keynote lecture of the International English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, on Monday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 pm in McKinnon Hall, Moseley Center.

With "ENGage your Passions, PoWeR your Lives!" ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's English Department joins forces with the Student Professional Development Center to host an inaugural career event designed for majors, minors and all students interested in the humanities. The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Lakeside meeting rooms from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. 

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Caribbean Students Association will host the annual Caribbean Fest on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Iconic Plaza from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The event will feature music, food, games, interactive displays, food, prizes and tons of fun. The event is free and all members of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ community are welcome.

Associate Professor of English, Prudence Layne, delivered the keynote address at the Seventh Annual Women of Excellence conference hosted by Halifax Community College on March 18, 2016.

The associate professor of English & coordinator of African and African-American Studies program was invited to present a paper titled "Transforming Higher Education: Restructuring Space and Minds” and lead a workshop for faculty during the Mico University College's Week of Activities held in Kingston, Jamaica during the week of April 8.

Associate Professor of English Prudence Layne, coordinator of the university's African & African-American Studies program, was interviewed on the live radio show “Both Sides of the Story,” a program that is broadcasted live on Power 106 FM radio in Jamaica.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students are invited to come to Moseley Center on Thursday, April 3 to learn more about African & African-American Studies at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.

The associate professor of English and coordinator of the university's African & African-American Studies program proposed, organized, chaired and presented research in Black female resistance with ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ senior strategic communications major Raven Bennett.
