Several students from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s Moot Court Board had the opportunity to observe oral arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on Wednesday, Oct. 7.  

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Prof. Eric Fink writes that recent consumer savings and rising profit for companies like Uber, resulting from on-demand transportation apps, are being realized through reduced labor protections and employee benefits "borne by workers, out-of-sight and out-of-mind to the public that enjoys their services and the companies that profit from them."

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law is named one of the nation’s best law schools by The Princeton Review, which released its guide to law schools on Oct. 6. 

Three accomplished attorney educators join ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law's communications faculty, Dr. Julee Flood, Tim McFarlin and Cassandra Thomas Roberts, as the Law School broadly expands its extensive communication skills programs for students. 

Alexandria Hall and Jennifer LaBeau won the final round of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law’s Eighth Annual Intramural Moot Court Competition. Gonzalo Ventura and Meghan Smith also competed in the final round. Ventura was named “Best Oralist from the Final Round” and “Best Oralist from the Preliminary Rounds.” The team of Leah Britt and James Capps took “Best Brief” honors. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law alumnus Mital Patel L’09 was recognized by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly as a 2015 “Leader in the Law” at a Sept. 25 luncheon in Charlotte, NC before an audience of leading lawyers from across the state.

In an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Now commentary, Professor Eric Fink, a labor and employment law expert, examines the impacts on workers of on-demand services like Uber and Taskrabbit. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law Professor Henry Gabriel presented a paper Sept. 9 at the Oxford University Faculty of Law on the international financing of agricultural, construction and mining equipment. The paper will be published in the forthcoming issue of the Cape Town Academic Law Review. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law student placements in the offices of a city attorney, public defender, judge, law firm and social justice nonprofit are featured in the eighth and final weekly spotlight on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law student summer employment experiences.
