The venerable performing arts publication listed ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ as one of the 10 most represented colleges on Broadway during the 2017-18 season.

Crowds gathered around ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's campus to take in the partial eclipse Monday afternoon, but miss out on a peek at the peak coverage as clouds roll in. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ President Leo M. Lambert presented the medallion to five retired faculty and staff members for their meritorious service to the university during an event marking the start of a new academic year. The university also recognized four endowed professorships and two longtime professors were named Distinguished University Professors. 

Kathy Matera, a professor of chemistry, will spend the next two years as the Japheth E. Rawls Professor for Undergraduate Research in Science. 

The endowed professorship is funded by the estate of the late Isabella Cannon ’24, a former mayor of Raleigh, N.C.

The professorship honors senior full professors for their career achievements in teaching, scholarship, leadership and service to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ.

The annual effort kicked off in 2011 thanks in part to the work of an ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ alum serving with the armed forces in Afghanistan. 

The annual Teaching & Learning Conference hosted by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching & Learning and Teaching and Learning Technologies at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ drew hundreds of professors from around the state. 

About 60 area teachers will attend workshops at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ centered around innovative ways to teach science, technology, engineering and mathematics to K-12 students.

"Read on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ" is a program sponsored by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's Phi Beta Kappa chapter that brings together students, faculty and staff to read and discuss a selection of books.
