Hey everyone!

As you may or may not know, our senators in North Carolina are trying to pass a bill (SB 106) that will change North Carolina’s state constitution to not allow any civil unions, domestic partnerships, along with marriage for all queer people within the state.

Equality NC has a great program where you sign postcards to express your disagreement with this anti-gay amendment. These postcards are then sent to N.C. legislators, which in ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s case is Rick Gunn (Alamance county’s senator) who is actually for this anti-gay amendment to the state’s constitution.

We are looking for your help to keep discrimination out of North Carolina!

At College Coffee on May 10, we will be asking for the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Community to join us by signing postcards to show your support for LGBTQI citizens of North Carolina.

Also, if you cannot make it to College Coffee but would like to sign a postcard, fill out your name, full ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ address, phone number and email at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/6GJBP7L and we will mail in a postcard for you!

If you have any questions or would like to get more involved feel free to email or call Kory Johnson, kjohnson35@elon.edu 207-831-3566.

Thanks so much for your support!

Wednesday, April 13 – “Brother, Outsider” Film Screening and Discussion

Join Spectrum and the Black Cultural Society as we watch and discuss “Brother, Outsider” as part of Pride Week in the Moseley Commuter Lounge at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13.

“Brother, Outsider” is a documentary about Bayard Rustin, who was an active leader within the civil rights movement and friend and adviser of Martin Luther King, Jr. Since then, his role within the movement has been downplayed because of his sexual orientation. You can find more information about the film here: http://rustin.org/. Our discussion will touch on race, sexual orientation, and the intersections between the two, as well as the impact of leaving some voices out of history.
