Damon Duncan ’06 L’09, who graduated from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ with a degree in communications before attending law school, becomes the first ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law alumnus to serve in such a leadership capacity for the North Carolina Bar Association.

The North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys recognized Katherine Bordwine L’18 with an annual award named in honor of retired North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Parker.

Professor Sue Liemer served from 1998-2000 as president of the Association of Legal Writing Directors and served a four-year term on the Board of Directors of the Legal Writing Institute.

Associate Dean Enrique Armijo’s legal critique of the "ample alternative channels of communication" principle will be featured in the next edition of an annual guide frequently cited by First Amendment scholars and attorneys.

To honor a local attorney's unwavering support of her legal studies, student Wendy Smith made a gift to ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law that was celebrated June 7 with the unveiling of a plaque recognizing G. Steve Crihfield for his commitment to encouraging students who are pursuing a career in law.

Students in the Class of 2018 who excelled during their first year at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law were recognized June 1 at a Starmount Country Club dinner featuring remarks from alumna Chelsea Anderson '10 L'13.

Steve Friedland, associate dean for innovation in engaged learning in law, spoke with veteran journalist Bob Buckley of "The Buckley Report" about ongoing research at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Law focused on improvements to legal education. 

Bestowed at Commencement, the David Gergen Award for Leadership & Professionalism recognizes graduating students in each class who embody the highest levels of selfless leadership and service.

Students in the Class of May 2017 received their degrees in an Alumni Gym ceremony highlighted by remarks from Robert J. Grey Jr., a former president of the American Bar Association who implored the group to "guard against injustice." 

Graduation has been moved indoors to Alumni Gym due to the threat of afternoon rain and storms.
