ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. organized students, faculty and staff Tuesday for a group portrait at College Coffee to raise awareness of police shootings and controversial law enforcement practices across the United States.

The namesake of the university’s library died Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina, two days shy of her 87th birthday. A brief remembrance service takes place today in the Oak Grove lounge on the south end of the library’s first floor.

A Wednesday program in McKinnon Hall will offer the campus community reflections from ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ faculty and a current student from Ferguson, Missouri, about the recent police shooting death there of a young unarmed black man.

The first ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Poll of the fall semester will ask residents of North Carolina about their opinions on various social, economic and political issues.
