On Thursday, November 12, the theme meal is coming. While we can’t promise real fire-breathing dragons or direwolves, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining is going to recreate the magical land of Westeros.

Beginning at 5 p.m., patrons can swipe in at Lakeside Dining Hall for great food and entertainment—Game of Thrones style.

Prepare to live this night as if it were your last, and most importantly, get ready to feast like a Lannister. The menu will consist of King Robert’ roasted pig, Arya’s oysters, Danaery’s dragon egg cookies and more medieval treats. We can’t wait to see you there!

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Students enjoying the fair foods served at Lakeside's Carnival Theme Dinner.
If you recently witnessed students leaving Lakeside Dining Hall with crazy balloon art hats, photo booth strips and cotton candy, your eyes weren’t playing tricks on you.  On Thursday, Sept. 10, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining put on its first theme meal of the semester, and students loved the carnival inspired night.

Lakeside Dining Hall was buzzing due to all the excitement. The hall was transformed into a big top tent full of decorations and music. Different stations in Lakeside featured traditional fair foods and goodies. Crowd favorites included candy apple decorating, funnel cake fries and a pretzel machine. Students kept coming back for more spareribs and chocolate-dipped foods. At the far side of the dining hall, multiple games were set up alongside a photo booth complete with crazy hats and feather boas. Laughter and enjoyment abounded.

Pretzels, Popcorn, and Candy Apples were just a few of the treats served at Lakeside's Carnival Theme Dinner.

Carnival Theme Dinner at Lakeside – Sept. 10 /u/news/2015/09/09/carnival-theme-dinner-at-lakeside-sept-10/ Wed, 09 Sep 2015 16:10:00 +0000 /u/news/2015/09/09/carnival-theme-dinner-at-lakeside-sept-10/ On Thursday, September 10 the smell of funnel cake and popcorn will be wafting through the halls of Lakeside. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining is giving students the opportunity to be a kid again with a September Carnival Theme Meal. Starting at 5 p.m., students will be able to swipe at Lakeside Dining Hall for a night of carnival inspired entertainment.

Photo booth fun, balloon art, and games will be running throughout. The menu will feature carnival favorites such as corn dogs, drumsticks and chili cheese fries. Don’t forget to stop by the dessert station on your way out for funnel cakes, frozen bananas and cheesecake pops. Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss it!

Five campus organizations helped by 'Dine with Purpose' /u/news/2015/01/29/five-campus-organizations-helped-by-dine-with-purpose/ Thu, 29 Jan 2015 21:25:00 +0000 /u/news/2015/01/29/five-campus-organizations-helped-by-dine-with-purpose/ ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining started Dine with Purpose in Fall 2013. This donation program is intended to give back to student groups and university initiatives. One week a month a different retail dining location donates 10 percent of all food dollar, cash and credit sales to various organizations. 

Groups are chosen in advance and placed in a month significant to their events. Dine with Purpose weeks are advertised at locations, on ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, and via email.

Since September, $1,407 has been raised to support the following five organizations.

  • Stop Hunger Now: An international hunger relief agency that is committed to ending hunger. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ hosts meal-packaging events each year for students and alumni to help package these meals.
  • Habitat for Humanity: ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ’s Campus Chapter commits to fundraising and building one house per year in Alamance County and seeks to eliminate poverty housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
  • Alternative Breaks: The Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Volunteers! offer students the chance to take their love of service on the road. Planned and led by student coordinators, the Alternative Break Program allows students to face pressing social issues in communities locally and globally.
  • It Gets Better: Communicates to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth around the world that it gets better, and to create and inspire the changes needed to make it better for them.
  • ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Academy: Inspires academically promising students who are often underrepresented on college and university campuses to pursue higher education, build leadership skills, and develop an active sense of social responsibility.

Thursday, April 18th Colonnades Dining Hall is hosting an “Awareness Dinner” from 4pm – 9pm. Come learn about all of the different awareness causes and enjoy some delicious, healthy food! Also, we will have cards available for you to write a thank you letter to the troops!

Wednesday, April 17: “Clean Plate Awards” at Lakeside Dining Hall – Get a prize for cleaning your plate and leaving  no waste! 11a.m. – 1:30 p.m. while supplies last.

Thursday, April 18: Farmer’s Market at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Community Church – Purchase a solar oven baked cookie from the Campus Kitchen table! All proceeds go to the CKEU. ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining is donating the solar oven and the cookie dough.

Monday, April 22: Earth Day Local Lunch at Colonnades Dining Hall – 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. $10.25 or 1 meal swipe for an all-you-care-to-eat NC fresh meal.

All Week Activities:

Earth Day Resolutions – Make your Earth Day Resolutions on the pledge boards in the dining locations by signing your name by the initative you plan to do. 

Earth Week Photo Contest – Submit pictures to nelson-katie@aramark.com of the campus that best portray sustainability for a chance to win a mountain bike. The photos can be of nature, they can be abstract, or they can be of sustainability in action. All photos must be submitted to nelson-katie@aramark.com by Friday, April 12. All submitted photos will be displayed on the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Dining Facebook Page so the campus can vote on thier favorite photo. The photographer with the most votes, “likes”, will win a mountain bike!
