The United States Library of Congress has selected ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s Imagining the Internet Web site for inclusion in its historic collections of Internet materials.

Two major ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ roads, Lebanon and Trollinger avenues, reopened May 20 after more than nine months of construction on a new pedestrian tunnel between ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's main campus and areas south of the railroad tracks. Lebanon and Trollinger run parallel to the tracks and were closed to traffic last August.

John G. Sullivan, Powell professor of philosophy emeritus, has published the second essay in his 2010 series, "A Fourfold Path to Wholeness: Love, Compassion, Joy and Peace."

World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and Vint Cerf, widely known as a "father of the Internet" and Google's Chief Internet Evangelist, were among the more than 60 speakers leading more than 20 different events at the three-day FutureWeb conference in Raleigh, N.C., April 28-30. The event was organized by the Imagining the Internet Center of ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's School of Communications, and involved more than 40 ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff.

Barry Bradberry, associate dean of admissions and financial planning, received the William Starling Award from SACAC, the Southern Association for College ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Counseling, at the group's April 19 meeting in Jacksonville, Fla. Five ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ staff members represented the university at the conference.

A major gift by ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ trustee Jeanne Robertson and her husband Jerry will provide lead funding for a renovation project for Alumni Gym in Koury Center. The project will upgrade ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's home for basketball and volleyball, convocations and other large campus events.

John G. Sullivan, Powell Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, gave a workshop titled “Becoming an Elder: Re-imagining the Second Half of Life” at Virginia Tech on April 24.

Chris Leupold, associate professor of psychology, will serve as the next academic coordinator for the Leadership Program, beginning with the 2010-11 academic year.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ Provost Steven House has named two longtime faculty members, Connie Book and Tim Peeples, to associate provost positions. Both begin their new duties on June 1, 2010.
