Ken Ferrer allowed just three runs over a career-best 7.2 innings pitched and Mike Melillo hit a two-run home run to lead the 29th-ranked and third-seeded ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Phoenix to a 6-3 victory over the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers in an elimination game of the Cary Regional of the 2008 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Law hosted a state-wide conference organized by the North Carolina Legal Education Assistance Foundation (NCLEAF) on May 22. The group heard a presentation by Heather Jarvis of Equal Justice Works on the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007 which provides exciting opportunities for income-based repayment and loan forgiveness options for public interest attorneys.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ wins Southern Conference Baseball Tournament

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Phoenix defeated the College of Charleston Cougars 17-8 on May 25 to claim the 2008 SoCon tournament title.  ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ improved to 43-16 and claims the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. 

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ wins SoCon baseball title

The ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Phoenix will enter the upcoming 2008 Southern Conference Baseball Championship as the number one seed after winning the regular season title outright with a 19-8 SoCon mark. The Phoenix finished one game ahead of College of Charleston (18-9) whose loss on the last day of the regular season gave ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ the title outright. It is the second SoCon title for ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ in three seasons.
