To celebrate ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ’s Spring Undergraduate Research Forum on April 29, ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ is highlighting several students presenting their research at the annual campus tradition.

Boyd '26 collaborated with teaching faculty at ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ and UNC Wilmington to present their research study on the counter-narratives of Brown v. Board of Education at the 2025 NC Council for the Social Studies Annual Meeting.

ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ's 32nd annual SURF Day brought together the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ campus community for more than 250 presentations on a variety of research topics.

Among the evening’s award recipients were Brynja Burton ’25, named Major of the Year, and Will Ferris ’25, who earned the James P. Drummond Service Award.

Over 480 students, faculty, staff, families, friends and alumni were in attendance, overflowing the seats into the bleachers.

Lisa Buchanan, associate professor in the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education, presented two conference presentations for social studies educators alongside colleagues from The University of North Carolina Wilmington and ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ student Mary Boyd '26 at the 2025 NC Council for the Social Studies Meeting in April.
